What is RPM®?
RPM® is group fun, to great music -
without the competition. Professional
coaching for 45 minutes helps you match
terrain with tempo and all the energy of
a small rock concert. RPM® is an awesome
workout for improving your aerobic
capacity and anaerobic strength. The
music driven terrain pushes your body to
burn calories and tighten your frame.
Under guidance of your Instructor and
motivation of your team you will
experience slow climbs, short sprints
and recovery spins that present no
barrier to coordination or boredom. Each
workout is performed on stationary
cycles that enhance the indoor
experience. Available with fixed or free
wheels, RPM® cycles come with adjustable
handle bars, seat and pedals to maximize
your comfort.
Who is RPM® aimed at?
RPM® is a cardiovascular training
program that provides fitness
enthusiasts with a variety of
applications. As an indoor cycling class
it attracts different users. For high
users of group exercise RPM® is an
effective cross training workout. For
moderate users it provides a very
athletic cardiovascular workout. For
non-aerobic users it offers a less
intimidating introduction to music
driven group exercise. For new users and
those with a history of high impact
injuries or related conditions the
non-weight bearing nature of cycling
makes it an appealing choice of
exercise.
What options are available for
beginners?
New participants to an RPM® class may
find the cycling cadence (speed) in
seated or standing positions
challenging. Your instructor will remind
you of the options available for all
positions. The standard options include
decreasing resistance and/or cadence and
remaining in the seated position during
standing phases. If you are still not
able to maintain competent posture you
will be encouraged to stop and recover
in the Seated Recovery position.
Participants with a limited fitness
background or a previous medical
condition must seek medical advice.
